Step by Step Grooming of Ears:
The ears have long hair which covers the lower tulip shaped
portion. the lower portion of the ear is covered with soft short hair
which does not grow long, but the top half will grow over the lower
portion and the ear will start to look like a Spaniel.
You can see in this picture below the long hair being trimmed off
the top of the ear....


Using thinning shears and holding them IN THE DIRECTION OF THE
EAR (north and south!!)thin the top long hairs to a shorter length,
cut them down at the bottom of the ear to the same length as the hair
already there, at the top of the ear, leave the hairs longer. It
helps to slant the thinning shears close to the skin at the end of
the ear and farther out at the top of the ear.
